TLoS:DR Chapter 14- What Lies Ahead

"We have to talk to Spyro about Cynder" Terrador informs the other two Guardians.

"But we can't tell him everything we know about the dragoness. He knows what she has done in the past, but if he tries to defend her, it will affect the other dragons that need to come back to Warfang." Cyril points out to the group.

Volteer then follows on: "We all recognize that Spyro has to depart to the Abscond Desert shortly… nevertheless the fondness that Spyro has for Cynder might create a colossal predicament for both of them…"

As the Guardians continue to talk among themselves, they all come to an agreement about what needs to be said to Spyro. Terrador next informs the other Guardians: "Cyril I want you to get Spyro. We need to talk to him… alone."

An hour passed and back in Cynder's room, the dragoness is awakening from her sleep. As she get out of her straw bed, she beings to stretch her legs and her wings out. While she stretches herself, she remembers what had happened the night before and rushes towards Spyro's room. As she enters his room, she notices that Spyro isn't there and next starts looking around the ruins for the dragon. After a short a while she then hears voices coming from the spacious room they were in yesterday. As she approaches the room she hears Terrador say: "Spyro I know you don't want to do this, but if you follow our advice it will help Cynder in the long run as well as all the dragons around world."

Cynder suddenly stops as she hears her name and begins to eavesdrop on the conversation. She then hears Spyro reply back to Terrador: "I don't see why this problem has anything to do with Cynder."

Terrador continues to explain why it is a problem for the dragoness: "Spyro, Malefor was a major threat to all dragons when he raised the army of apes up against us. It was only with the help of the Ancestors that we managed to stop Malefor. But as soon as the Ancestors left, some of the dragons started to lose their trust for the Guardians, thinking that we couldn't protect them and left shortly after. Worst still, after the eggs were attacked, even more dragons lost their trust for us because we couldn't protect their young. But the final blow was when Cynder started attacking all the dragons. It was at this moment all of the dragons fled away from the area and started to live their lives around the world."

Volteer next continues from Terrador: "The dilemma we presently have is that these dragons are apprehensive and they are determined not to return back to Warfang. The Dragon Realms is currently divided and we require the reliance of each dragon. The Dragon Temple requires every dragon's attention, so that the adolescent dragons can be educated by us. If this predicament is to be ensued… we may never re-establish the Dragon Realms back to its former splendour. It's necessary that we increase the confidence of every single dragon again."

The room then goes quiet and as Cynder waits for the conservation to continue, she starts to speculate what the Guardians have asked Spyro to do. She knows it's something to do with her, but she wonders how her past will affect Spyro's next assignment. She next hears Spyro say: "I… I need her."

Cynder's heart begins to beat faster as she hears Spyro breaking down in pain. She then hears Cyril's voice: "Spyro I know you care a lot about Cynder, but many of the others will not listen to you if they find out that Cynder has been helping you."

"Then I will fight for her! I will tell them she has changed!"

Terrador then jumps back in again by saying: "Spyro if you really care about Cynder, you have to trust us on this. I know it will not be easy for you, but Spyro I know you will make the right decision in the end. Remember that Malefor was dangerous because he thought he was always right… and I really don't want to fight against you Spyro."

"I see… can I leave now? I just… need some time to get my head around all of this."

"I understand Spyro. Just keep resting yourself before you leave for the desert… and Spyro, Ignitus trusted you. I know that I'm not Ignitus, but I don't want to let him down. We need to restore the Dragon Temple, but we also don't want to see you get hurt."

"OK Terrador… I will think about what you have asked."

As Cynder starts to hear the sound of feet moving towards the exit of the room, she quickly and silently runs away from the area. She decides to head for the entrance of the ruins and begins to wait around in the area. As Cynder paces around the entrance, she thinks about what the Guardians have said and wonders what they asked Spyro to do. As she worries about what they may have asked Spyro to do, she is troubled by the fact that Spyro is thinking about following their instructions. She then hears his voice: "Cynder… you're here."

She turns around to look at the purple dragon. As she stares at him, she tries hard to find out what the Guardians have asked him to do. However when Cynder continues to look at him, Spyro starts to get worried. He wonders if she heard him muttering in the night, or even if she knew he wasn't asleep. As they stare at each other, Cynder suddenly remembers she has to reply back to Spyro. She next forces the words out: "Yeah… I was… here… waiting for… you."

Spyro starts to become puzzled by the way the dragoness is talking. He next notices that Cynder is missing her left bracelet. He decides to question Cynder about the missing bracelet: "Cynder why do you only have one bracelet on?"

"Oh right… Spyro I wanted you to meet some of your biggest fans."

"Cynder I don't… hang on, what?"

As Spyro wonders why the missing bracelet has to do with meeting some of his fans, Cynder tells him: "Just follow me OK?"

Spyro begins to follow Cynder outside the ruins. As the couple reach outside, the two young pups run towards them with Cynder's bracelet in their hands. While Spyro is unsure why a couple of young pups have Cynder's bracelet, Cynder cannot understand why the young pups have hats in the form of herself and Spyro on their heads. The two pups then say in excitement: "Wow its Spyro!"

Spyro cannot help but smile at the two young pups as he gazes at their hats and softly asks them: "So why do my biggest fans have Cynder's bracelet on them?"

The male pup then replies back to him completely over-excited by the fact that Spyro is talking to him: "Well yesterday you were sad, so Cynder said if we looked after her bracelet you would fly me around Warfang."

As Spyro hears the young pup's words, he turns his head towards Cynder, focusing on the dragoness shy smile and asks her: "Really she said that?"

Cynder starts to grin back at Spyro and replies: "Well I thought you would be happy to fly your biggest fans around… especially after what happened yesterday."

As the two dragons continue to smile back at each other for a few seconds, Spyro proceeds to turn back to look at the pups. He next tells the young pups as if he is really unsure about flying them around Warfang, just to build up the pups' enthusiasm: "Well… I guess I could fly you around, but only if you give Cynder back her bracelet."

The male pup starts to cheer and then rushes towards Cynder to give her bracelet back, eager to fly on Spyro's back. As Cynder receives her bracelet back from the male pup, she thanks him for looking after it and puts her bracelet back on. The pup then runs back to Spyro with a huge grin on his face. As the pup begins to climb onto Spyro's back, the female pup asks Cynder: "Cynder… can I fly on your back?"

Cynder smiles back at pup and nods in agreement. As soon as the pup is on Cynder's back, the two dragons being to fly into the sky as slowly as possible. As the dragons start to get higher in the air, the pups continue to be filled with enthusiasm. The two dragons then fly the two pups around the city, flying fairly low down so as not to scare the pups. As Spyro and Cynder take the pups around Warfang, they spot the inhabitants are putting up banners instead of working to rebuild the city. This causes Spyro to ask Cynder: "Is there a celebration of some kind going on?"

The two young pups start to giggle amongst themselves as if they know something. Cynder, who is curious about why the pups are laughing, asks them a question: "What do you know that we don't?"

The female pup next replies as she shakes her head: "Sorry but that's a secret."

Cynder begins to look at Spyro, hoping he will know what the pups are giggling about. But as she glances at him, his face clearly shows that he doesn't know what the pups are talking about. After a few minutes of flying around, Spyro and Cynder are reaching the ruins again. As they slowly land onto the stone ground, the pups jump off the dragons brimming with excitement. They thank the two dragons for flying them around Warfang and as they finish talking, Spyro notices that Sparx is heading towards him with some type of scroll in his hands.

Sparx begins to look at the pups and spots that they are wearing hats which look like their heroes. He then remarks as he gazes at the young pups' hats: "Looks like someone is ready for the party later on."

The pups start to get over-excited once again and the male pup shouts out with enthusiasm: "Yeah we even made our hats for tonight!"

Cynder smiles at the pups as they show Sparx how proud they are about their hats. Spyro however is wondering why Sparx is holding a scroll. He decides to ask him about it: "Hey Sparx what's that in your hand?"

"Oh right I forgot to tell you. Well after what happened yesterday I thought to myself: 'What can I do to make Spyro happy?' but also: 'How could the moles thank you without pushing you around?' And then the idea came straight to me… Ta-da!"

He then opens up the scroll which turns out to be a very small banner. On it, it reads the words: 'Purple Dragon Day!' Spyro and Cynder stare at the small banner wondering what Sparx has done, but the pups start jumping around with excitement and tell the dragons: "You're having a party tonight!"

The two begin to glance at each other and as Cynder looks at Spyro with confusion, Spyro asks her: "Cynder did you know anything about all of this?"

"No I had no idea… I knew that these pups wanted to fly around Warfang, but I never heard anything about a party. Sparx are you sure you're right about this?"

"Of course I am. Why would you thinking I'm wrong?"

The two dragons just stare at Sparx, unable to give him a serious answer. As the dragonfly sighs at them, he continues: "Look you have to trust me on this… OK?"

After a few seconds of silence, Spyro nods in agreement with Sparx, but wonders if there is going to be a party later on. Sparx then clips his fingers and replies back with confidence: "See I knew this would work… and you could at least smile about it."

Spyro starts to force a grin at Sparx and as he smiles; the dragonfly tries to mock Cynder: "See, my idea has cheered him up. I bet you haven't done anything to cheer him up."

Cynder begins to defend herself but is interrupted by the young male pup as he jumps in and says: "Yes she has! We rode on their backs around Warfang. It was so awesome; it's the best thing we have ever done!"

The dragons' faces start to beam as they hear the young pups get animated about their flight around Warfang. Cynder then turns to look at Sparx to see how he is reacting. Sparx just shrugs at Cynder and replies: "You my have cheered them up, but Spyro flies all the time, so it's nothing new to him. Anyway I have to prepare for Spyro's party, so I'll catch you later."

He then waves at Spyro and heads back into Warfang. Spyro next checks to see if Cynder is OK. He wonders if the party for him will bother her and so decides to ask her: "Cynder you OK with all of this?"

"Of course I am! Why wouldn't I be?"

"Well it's just… we saved the world together. We both defeated Malefor. But tonight it's only going to be about me."

"Spyro these moles look up to you as their hero. You're the purple dragon that saved the world. Tonight is to celebrate what you stand for… a hope for the future."

"Cynder I… thanks for understanding. I just don't want you to feel jealous again."

Cynder starts to look affectionately at Spyro and as she moves closer to him, she softly replies: "Spyro… I never want to be jealous of you. Besides after what happen yesterday… I'm starting to realise how much everyone looks up to you."

As the two dragons gaze deep at each other, they both then hear a childish voice: "Aww, they're so cute together."

The two dragons suddenly remember that the pups are nearby and as they start to move away from each other, their faces being to blush by what just happened. The male pup nudges the female pup and he tells her what she has done: "I think they heard you, but don't worry us; we need to go home and get ready for the party. Bye Spyro, bye Cynder."

As the two pups run back to their homes, they begin to wave at Spyro and Cynder. The two dragons reply back by waving at them and as they disappear out of sight, Spyro invites Cynder to walk around with him. As the couple walk around, they talk to some of the inhabitants who are preparing for the party. But even though today is a day of celebration, the dragons still have one problem fixed in their minds. Spyro wonders if he should listen to the Guardians' advice, as Cynder worries about what Spyro may be thinking.
